THE STATIONS OF THE CROSS
The Stations in our church at Leatherhead were designed by Eric Gill and were completed in 1924. They depict the 14 traditional Stations of the Cross. As one moves from Station to Station, it is customary to sing a verse of the 'Stabat Mater'; alternatively, the 'Our Father', 'Hail Mary' and 'Glory Be' may be said instead.

All I want is to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and to share his
sufferings by reproducing the pattern of his death. That is the way I can hope to take my place in the
resurrection of the dead. Not that I have become perfect yet: I have not yet won, but I am still running, trying
to capture the prize for which Christ Jesus captured me.
[Phil. 3:10 - 12]
moriar. O mi Jesu, volo conjúnctim tecum et vívere et mori. [St. Alphonsus Maria Liguori] |
Lord Jesus Christ, you have set out on this journey with such love that you will die for
me; yet many times I have strayed so far that I have barely thought of you. But now I love you with all my soul, and because I
love you I repent with my whole heart for having offended you. Forgive me, and allow me to join you as
a companion on this journey. You, led by love for me, are going on to the place where you will be dying for
me; I, in my turn, led by love for you, wish to accompany you so that, dearest Redeemer, I may die with
you. Oh my Jesus, I want to live and to die always united to you. |
