TENTH STATION
Jesus is stripped of his garments
V/. Adorámus te, Christe, et benedícimus tibi. R/. Quia per sanctam crucem tuam redemísti mundum. |
V/. We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you. R/. For by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. |
The soldiers ... took his clothing and divided it into four shares, one for each soldier. His undergarment was
seamless, woven in one piece from neck to hem; so they said to one another, "Instead of tearing it, let's
throw dice to decide who is to have it." [John 19:21] Spend a few moments in silent reflection: - Am I prepared to be stripped of the things that hinder me from following Jesus? - Does my attachment to possessions separate me from Jesus and from my fellow men and women? |
|
Amo te, o Jesu, mi Amor, magis quam meípsum, et ex íntimo corde pænitet me quod tibi displícui. Ne sinas me íterum a te separári. Da mihi perpétuum amórem tui, et dein fac de me quidquid tibi placúerit. |
I love you Jesus, my Love, above all things; I repent with my whole heart for having offended you. Never permit me to separate myself from you again. Grant that I may love you always, then do with me what you will. |
Fac ut árdeat cor meum in amándo Christum Deum ut sibi compláceam |
Make me feel as thou has felt; make my soul to glow and melt with the love of Christ our Lord. |
