FIFTH STATION
The cross is laid upon Simon of Cyrene
V/. Adorámus te, Christe, et benedícimus tibi. R/. Quia per sanctam crucem tuam redemísti mundum. |
V/. We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you. R/. For by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. |
As they were leading Jesus away, they seized on a man, Simon from Cyrene, who was coming in from the
country, and made him shoulder the cross and carry it behind Jesus. [Luke 23:26] Spend a few moments in silent reflection: - Do I really follow Jesus, or is my religion mostly empty actions? - Do I come to Mass out of love for Jesus, or is attendance at Mass a burden to be endured? |
|
Amo te, o Jesu, mi Amor, magis quam meípsum, et ex íntimo corde pænitet me quod tibi displícui. Ne sinas me íterum a te separári. Da mihi perpétuum amórem tui, et dein fac de me quidquid tibi placúerit. |
I love you Jesus, my Love, above all things; I repent with my whole heart for having offended you. Never permit me to separate myself from you again. Grant that I may love you always, then do with me what you will. |
Quis est homo qui non fleret Matri Christi si vidéret in tanto supplício? |
Is there one who would not weep, whelmed in miseries so deep Christ's dear Mother to behold? |
